Check-in Information
Check-in: From 4pm Check-out: By 10am We’ll greet you personally and show you to your safari tent. There is a dedicated parking area just past the gate at the bottom of the field which we will direct you to.
Vehicle Access
Important: Access is via forest tracks with occasional pot holes. Most cars will be fine but avoid travelling to us in very low vehicles. The forest has an 18mph speed limit. Take it slow and you’ll be absolutely fine!
Mobile Signal & Wifi
Mobile signal is patchy in the forest but EE works fine near the tents. There is no WiFi so this is your chance for a proper digital detox! In emergencies, we’re always here to help.

Directions to Matilda’s Field
The journey through the forest is part of the experience! You’ll wind through ancient woodland on quiet but uneven tracks. It is peaceful and beautiful. Take your time and enjoy it. Below you’ll find detailed directions based on where you’re coming from, plus everything you need to know about what to bring, and what to expect when you arrive.

Weather & Climate
Matilda’s Field sits 1,200 feet above sea level, so expect mountain weather; cooler temperatures, changeable conditions, and the possibility of rain even in summer. Pack warm layers, waterproofs, and wellies! But don’t worry, cosy evenings listening to rain on canvas and misty forest mornings are all part of the magic. Matilda’s Field is an adventure and a break from the norm!

Dogs & Horses Welcome
Both welcome! Dogs need to be on leads due to farm animals, horses need advance notice so we can make arrangements for them to stay in the field next to you. We are actually ON the Rainbow Trails, making us perfect for riders!

Directions to Matilda’s Field
Important
Our postcode doesn’t take you to us. It will take you to Fridd Cownwy farm. DO NOT GO UP THE FARM TRACK! Instead, look for the signs outside the farm gate that say: “All pods this way”
Follow these signs to Dyfnant Pods, then pick up our signs to Matilda’s Field (also signposted as Tyddyn Amlwg, our farmhouse name).
If you are coming from the south/Welshpool direction, you can use the postcode (SY21 0QD) to enter the forest at Hendre, then just before Parc Llwydiarth Caravan Park set your sat nav to SY10 0NL and follow signs to Dyfnant Pods then pickup signs to Matilda’s Field / Tyddyn Amlwg.
